Heater Valve Replacement

New here so I thought I'd pay some dues with a project description.

We have 1995 Cobra MH with a Chevy 454, The original heater control (some will remember these) is the old vacuum actuated doors with a cable controlled heater valve. A kink in the cable caused the cable-to-heater-valve lever to snap. Having had a car with this type of control before, I knew that a unit from a junk yard probably wouldn't work any better. The previous owner had installed a manual valve in the heater hose, but if you were too hot or too cold, you had to stop, get out and adjust it. It was a kludge.

I did some googling and found a 12 volt electric heater valve from

http://www.thermotion.com/default.aspx

I used the 4-port version. It requires a potentiometer which I picked up from the local Radio Shack.

The only issue I ran into was that the cabling that came with the unit was not long enough to go through the firewall and into the coach. I used the remains from a trailer wiring harness to extend the wiring to reach.

I will post some pix when I get the bus in a couple of weeks for our next trip.

Added the pix. This is the Thermotion valve with new heater hoses and SS clamps. Not sure why it insists on posting upside-down.

Located the temp. control pot to the dash panel.
