Hood latches

Good morning,

I have a 1997 Thor Residency with a 460 motor. At the front of the MH is the "hood" (a flat panel in the front that pulls out and drops down) where you can access the fluids etc. The hood has two key latches (one on each side) that hold/secure the hood. However, the latches have worn out and the tabs have broken off. Does anyone know of any other type of latch system to hold a flat hood in place? Ive tried Camping World, but they had no suggestions.

Thanks.

If those are like mine, there is a more or less square shaft (half square half round) with an nut that holds a arm that looks something like this.

I found one that looks like this (from edge)

__________ did the trick just fine. Had to adjust the nuts a bit is all.

Note this second one is standard lock part, any locksmith will have so did my RV dealer.
  • Thanks. I will try a locksmith shop and see what they have. I have seen some exterior latches on some RVs. However, Camping World didn't know about those either.
  • I have the same rv and when I replaced mine I was able to find them at Home depot,i have also bought some on Ebay,i think they were listed as cargo locks
