- IAMICHABODExplorer IIWhen I bought my RV it had a Winegard Batwing that was not working, I cleaned up all connections and tested to see if it was broken, it was,so I replaced it with a new Batwing Head then ran a Channel Scan I was not impressed with the amount of channels that I got. This was done in my driveway here in the south bay of So Calif about 30 miles from the transmitters, using my SensarPro.
I then went out and got a Wingman add on, that put my channel scan up to 85,but I had a clearance problem with the Wingman,it hit my A/C.
So I opted to put a Jack Antenna and my channel scan went up to 174
I always get beat up by the techies, The debate will go on and on, but I know what works best for me,in the real world. - Tom_M1ExplorerSince your antenna is almost 30 years old, I would suggest replacing the whole assembly. Your present antenna is probably a Winegard Sensar II. The latest is a Sensar IV. The Sensar IV has an added UHF element that sticks out the front. If you decide to upgrade, check your present antenna and make sure there is room for the new antenna when it is stowed. The Sensar IV is considered the best RV antenna. Also make sure that your coax cable and connectors are in good condition.
Here's a link to a Sensar IV assembly on Amazon:

Good one - LOL
Have you been on the roof? Is there even an antenna up there? - bobndotExplorer IIWould replacing it using a new King antenna be a better antenna ? Anybody know ?
If deciding on going the solar route:
Replacing larger , weathered , old tech antenna with a smaller head new digital model which would leave more roof space for solar panels. The newer tech King might also draw less 12v power from ur coach battery bank. Something to consider , especially if boondocking is your plan.
There is a video of a direct swap , installing a new King.

It's missing a crank & dial, that cranks up the antenna and turns it, it's directional, if I'm remembering right.
It looks like it is missing These parts to move it around and the Handle to crank it up
