How to bypass starter relay

Sometimes it just clicks once every time I try to start. Once it cranks it cranks good and starts. Interstate battery is 12.65 volts and good. I cleaned terminals. I want to use a remote starter to see if it is the solenoid. Can't find a good picture or video of how to do it. I tried putting it on the too biggest wires out of the four. Nothing happened. I have 12.6VDC on both ends of the big wire terminals. So no ground to bypass. I have a picture of my solenoid on my laptop but not sure how to upload it to this web sight. Any idea? p.s. I don't need advice on cleaning terminals or anything else. Just how to use a remote starter on this RV. I will take advice on how to upload a picture or video. Thanks.



Thought this forum would include what my motor home was like other forums since I filled in the details. It is a 1996 Winnebago Adventurer RG34 with a Ford motor.

OK thanks for your help. I just cranked it with my little bypass starter. Will have to find a new solenoid.

Not sure why I can't post pictures with the link I provide. It says because of my preference settings.

I found this under the floor near the gas pedal when removing the engine cover. I believe this is the starting solenoid. Do I have it this time? Cleaned all terminals on the battery and this device with a small wire wheel on my dremel. Clicked 1 time out of 4 starts.

Enblethen means that ain't the start relay but you aren't reading his entire post. You have a picture of the house wires not the chassis.

The relays shown in the OP's post are not the starter relay.
The one on top is the battery disconnect.
The lower one is the charge/auxiliary start relay.

It would be nice to know if you mean the top one by chance. If you do then the insides of the relay are probably gummed up. If you take it off the rig you can remove the screws seen in the photo as well as 2 identical in the back of the unit. That will expose the relay and a large washer that gets gunked up stopping electric flow. Take out washer and burnish and also burnish 2 brass contacts that contact the washer. It should work after that. I will warn you that the repair might only last for a week or so or it may last a long time.

As I recall, in a 99 F53, the starter relay is located in the passenger side wheel well, forward near the rad.

I saw your photos after I posted first time then edited response.
Remote start would not connect to any relays in your photo. There is another relay that is your start relay.

Long time since I had to do it last time, but I was able to shorten relay electrical connector with needle nose pliers.
This is not job for just anybody. Sparks will fly and things can get pretty hot

The relay is a common problem with Fords. Just replace it------they are less than $20.
