The failure was the plastic acme screw nut - about $6 and on-hand at Lichtsinn Motors. Much better than the $1500-2000 and 6 weeks quoted at Boise CW.
One of the nuts clevis pins was bent, and the 12 tiny plastic 'rivets' that hold the covers on cost over $2 ea - go figure.
Items of interest to other WInnie/Itasca/Kwickee/Power Gear slide owners:
1. A shaft protrudes from the rear of the motor/gearbox. It can be viewed (or felt) and if it turns when the IN or OUT buttons are pushed, the acme nut is broken.
2. If there is a min of about 3" clearance behind the motor/gearbox, it can be removed without removing the big long steel slide tubes.
