The rig is getting too much to handle because of my infirmness...(thats a word aint it??) and I think my RVing days are over.

Should I put her up for sale this fall or wait till spring?? Al I know is that it wont be cheap cause Ive got a ton of "extra's" that will go with it. Oil filters; hyd filters; fuel filters and so on and so forth.

Wife and I both sad to see her go but both agree its time for a new chapter in the book

Sorry to hear about that Sully2 and I would put it up for sale ASAP to give you more time. I'm aware of the health struggles that you have been going through over the past years and I'm getting close to being in the same situation! I have heart problems and my heart needs to be operated on but, that can't be done because of my blood cancer my oncologist say's I can't survive a operation! I walk my dogs down to the corner or set up my RV at a RV Park and I'm out of breath. The wife say's sell I say no not yet. I'm on a new medication called Jakafi that costs $11,290.00 a month. Good Luck to you my friend!

Yes, Jim we do have to take a minimum out each year, but what the RV lifestyle was taking was about three times that and was reducing the principal much too quickly for comfort.

Of course the recent financial panic has way exceeded any reduction our RV expenses caused!

Retirement scares me. Work hard to get there, and then worry if you will have enough $$ to last.

Thanks fro the clarification.

Dang Sully! Sorry to hear that, but understand your thinking. We have thought of selling ours too because of costs, but think we would miss the lifestye too much. God speed.

Sully,
The wife and I down sized last year. We sold our Beaver at PPL in Houston in 3 days. on consignment.
We turned around and bought a Coach House class c 26 ft. The best move we have ever made. I turn 80 this month and I don't feel one bit intimidated with handling and parking and I still tow my CRV. Took us a couple of trips to get use to the new size but we are not sorry one bit.
Hang in there and Travel on, Just in a smaller size.....!!!!!!

Sorry the OP has to leave a lifestyle that he loves. I guess it is something we'll all face some day. Good advice on his selling options. IMHO the OP should be as realistic as possible with pricing out his rig. Do some research at Motorhomes of Texas if they are a CC used dealer on asking price. Remember though that isn't what it'll sell for. No one has mentioned PPL in Texas to see what similar types of rigs are being sold for. Do Craiglist searches at hot bed RV markets and see what the competition is out there and again asking price. As far as extra's he has in it, the one post had it right that 99.5% of potential buyers could care less about them, especially if they are a first time RV'er because they may not realize the value of extra filters and such. When I bought both of my rigs, used, albeit both gassers I used a formula of 25-30% off original msrp first sold as new, and then 10% off each subsequent year to arrive at what I though was a fair price to purchase the first one private and then to put a value on when I traded it in at a dealer along with the value of the rig I bought. OP, sorry to see you go and good luck with your decision and future endeavors.

Sold a fiver on CL. Almost every inquiry and finally, the sale came from that listing. It helps if you have lots of pictures and a link to a Youtube video showing off your rig. All free.

Also had it listed on RVTrader which, if I remember correctly, was $75.

All RVTrader got me was the attention scammers calling or emailing me, claiming they had buyers standing by, looking for rigs just like mine and they were asking for very large listing fees.

Sorry to hear this Gary. I put my old PaceArrow on Craig's list and it sold in three days. Irv2 has a rv for sale section and it's free to post it. Lots of people over there on the Country Coach sub forum always looking or asking question about one. Wish you all the best.

Sully2 I put mine on crags list March 2014, it sold in May 2015 for what I was asking for it. When I listed it I wasn't any hurry to sale it, if it sold ok and if it didn't that was ok to. I had plenty of offers but none I was interested in taking. So it depends how bad and how big of a hurry you are to sale it. I understand on what you mean by getting out of the RV style, I lost interest. Good Luck on your sale. Roy

I feel for ya and know exactly where you'r at. my wife and I agonized over selling our coach due to infermaties. Just sold it the 1st part of Aug.
What an empty feeling, but its for the best. last year we had two great trips but had daughter and son-in law along for the heavy lifting.
Just now starting to adjust, but still on the rv websites for awhile.

IMO if your hobby starts taking money out of your IRA, maybe a re-assessment is appropriate. That was our conclusion.

I missed whether or not you were retired? If you are retired, don't you have to take money out of your IRA just to live every month?
