Ice Cube Maker Tray ...

Has been 6 months since I shut down the fridge. Fired it up this morning hooked up to 110, checked ice tray and it was dry. I filled it with water as kind of a starter/helper. Is this mode advisable? Also not hooked up to shore I'm using the water pump supply.Fridge is a factory installed Norcold double door with a top freezer. Thanks all .....
  • You do not have to add water first to the tray. The Icemaker mechanism will NOT start an ejection cycle and then allow water into the tray until the freezer gets BELOW 10 degrees. You can speed up the production by adding water first to prevent a dry ejection cycle on the first try. Doug
  • AN UPDATE .... Ice maker is pumping out ice cubes ..... first set of cubes dropped out after approx eight hours from firing up the fridge.
  • when you winterized the ice maker did you disconnect the feed from the solenoid and forget to hook it back up? did you replace the filter for it under the sink?

I have to put water in the tray to get mine to start working... sometimes takes two times before the 5' of plastic water line is full of water if off for a long time.
