Info Please 1st Time Buyer

We're planning on buying a used diesel MH in the next several months, we've RV'd with a HR travel trailer for 10+ yrs., which I completely renovated during that time, I luv that 'ole trailer and want to make sure I'm doing the right thing.

I'm currently looking (not in person yet)at the following MH, please give me some input on a good chassis, etc. I'm not sure about the Mercedes diesel.

Thanks for any input: (37,000 mi.,2008 Gulf Stream Tour Master Has A 330Hp 6.3 Mercedes Engine On A Freightliner Chassis, Amenities Include... Air Bag Suspension, Exhaust Brake, 2 Slide-Outs, Caterpillar Diesel Generator, Levelers, 4 Door Side by Side Gas/110V Dometic Refrigerator, In-Fridge Ice Maker, Additional Refrigerator/Freezer in Outside Compartment, Automatic Main Awning, Washer/Dryer, Backup Camera, CD Radio, Inverter, Satellite Dish, 4 TVs, DVD Player, Outdoor Entertainment Center With Gas Grill, Outside Shower, Convection Microwave, 3 Burner Range, And Oven.)
  • If you are referring to me, why would I want to do that? I just said it was confusing. Actually, I am not sure why anyone PM's anyone unless they want to discuss what they had for dinner last night.
  • The brochure I could find of a 2008 Tour Master shows:
425hp cummins diesel and 6 speed allIson transmIssIon.
Did they also install Mercedes engines in the same model and year?
    Confusing!

There is not a 6.3 Cummings engine so it's a mistake and should be Mercedes engine
  • When I google your list of amenities I come up with this coach at PPL. It sounds exactly like yours except is has a Cummins engine which is what I would have expected.

While a MB engine is not common in MHs, it is in Freightliner trucks so service/repair will not be an issue other than having to go to a Freightliner shop. It's a good engine and much better than the Cat 3126/C7 engine.

Have you read the info for first time buyers??? In the box above on right scroll down to Class A and click Go. It's by Johnny T.
  • Although There are several things listed that I would rather do without, it sounds very nice. We have had an older Gulfstream gasser for several years, and we are very pleased with the overall quality and features. Although, there have been a couple of things that could have been engineered a lot better. Like the access hatch for the water heater box being located next to the frame where it cannot be opened.
