Install recommendation for Wineguard Traveller

We have been using a Wineguard carry-out portable satellite dish for DISH service. Getting ready to retire and thinking about having a Wineguard Traveller for DISH installed on the roof. Looking for recommendations in the Brighton, Mi area and would consider going a far as Elkhart,In if need be to get good quality install. Camping World has great price right now on the unit ($1195) and will install for $350 but I am hesitant to use the local Camping World in Belleville,Mi (no experience with them good or bad).

Can also get the same price from PPL with free shipping (so I could purchase and just worry about install quality/capability).

Any recommendations good or bad would be appreciated and especially if you have had electronics work like this done at Belleville Mi Camping World.
  • If you would like to get a good professional install in Elkhart, IN you just need to give Elkhart Satellite a call. Good company that has been doing this kind of work for a long time. Toll-Free: 1-800-862-6686
  • I agree, the install on those units are not hard at all to install. You can find instructions on the internet.
  • I am a long time Dish subscriber and Trav'lr owner of several years. I would recommend either but not both.

The Trav'lr does not fully support the Eastern Arc Dish satellites and requires a DIY mod for the latest Hopper. Depending on your equipment, viewing and travel habits that may matter a lot or not at all.
  • The installation of the dish itself is not difficult. The only hard part is to run the two cables. One is the typical coax, which you may already have, but the other cable is the control cable and is unique to the Winegard dish.
There is a plate that can be removed from the bottom of the dish and only weighs a pound or so. It can be attached to the roof and is the only part that needs to be sealed. Once it is sealed, the dish portion is lifted on to the roof and attached to this plate and the two cables connected. The unit probably weighs about 40 pounds which may be difficult for some to handle. Removing the large dish makes it a little easier to handle.
I've installed two Travellers and it took about 1 1/2 hours each.
