Interior wall repair

I have a few places where the wall paneling is pulling loose due to the flimsy stables the factory uses to secure it. I have tried paneling nails and they bend easy and just don't work well.I thought about using some very small colored wood screws to take the place of the stables that pull out. What do others use in this case?

I personally will be putting my rebuild back together with wood screws. They hold much better.

Glue. Force it behind the panel and tack it down. Wipe off an excess.

#4 pan head screws anout 1 inch long work great.
