And to answer your question, I will relate an issue I had with my 40yo RV. Brakes went out coming up to a stop light. I had to use the emergency brake. Fortunately, I was able to stop and did not hit anyone. When the smoke cleared, I was able to pull off to a side street. Upon inspection, I found that the guy who installed the exhaust pipes, hit the rusty brake line. If I had been on the highway, or in heavy traffic, it would have been a disaster. I've since replaced most of the brake system myself, and that is the last time anyone else will work on my RV. As for previous owners, I was told he drove it around but could not get it started when I went to see it. I took the risk knowing there was a lot of work. He lied about ever driving it (power steering not working). I've made several repairs and living it and driving it. If you are going to live in a fixer upper, you should become knowledgeable about your RV, learn how to troubleshoot problems, and fix when you can.
