- cgmartineExplorerDoes "not necessarily" also apply to wearing the flag as shorts, or swim suit, or a mat? Are there no boundaries? Out of respect, I say it should be flown on a staff, period. But that is just me...

Shouldn't a flag always be on a pole? I hate seeing the flag used in all sorts of unintended manner....just saying.. If it was bunting, it would be okay, but a flag? hmmm.....
Not necessarily.....
When displayed either horizontally or vertically against a wall (or other flat surface), the union (blue field of stars) should be uppermost and to the flag's own right, that is, to the observer's left. - cgmartineExplorerShouldn't a flag always be on a pole? That just makes it a 'routine' which lacks any respect or meaning in the Raising and Lowering of our FLAG.
Just another 'thing' that happens like a Stop Light changing from RED to GREEN except less people will pay attention
Yep. Did you notice the person who walked by and paid no attention to the lowering flag?
I would rather see a light on the flag and have it fly all night.
It doesn't take much to have it go wrong, flag torn or stuck with the flag partially unfurled. And no one would notice. - Old-BiscuitExplorer III

While volunteering at a place that raised and lowered the flag each day, I really enjoyed asking parents if their young kids could come help me to raise the flag.
