Amen! Thank you to all the vets of WWII and every conflict we have been in.
My late FIL was part of this conflict. He was tortured until his death, with what he saw in WWII.

Hats off to all service men and women. I have an "old time" radio and one of the tapes I have is the live reporting going on for 90 minutes. Very touching!

May God rest their souls. The horrors they faced stepping out of those landing craft/ airplanes can never be overstated. What they did for mankind should never be forgotten.

When he reaches the gates of Heaven
To Saint Peter he will tell,
Another Soldier reporting for duty,
I've served my time in Hell.

that was actually the first thing I thought of when I saw the date on the newspaper this morning. and of course there was no mention of the anniversary anywhere in that same paper. nor on the morning TV news...at least the portion I watched. how sad. 72-years ago our troops along with British, Canadian, French and units from other countries were storming ashore in Normandy. without their sacrifice the world might be a very different place today.

We can't imagine what it was like going ashore into that but it was the beginning of the end for the Axis.

Thank You, Carp65 for the reminder of theses great men! There are 697,806 WWII Vets still alive today and 430 WWII Vets die everyday mostly from old age. All of the WWI Vets have passed on! I thank all Vets for there service! Rooster, Vietnam Vet, USMC 3/1 Combat Vet and active member of DAV.

Thank you to all veterans and especially my dad who was wounded at the battle of Monte Casio in Italy. May America never cease to produce the strong and brave defenders of liberty.

What's truly amazing about the generation is that they did it all without "under God" in their Pledge of Allegiance TO The Flag of The United States of America.
