Hi We have a 2007 fourwinds 5000 the cab over didn't come with a ladder for the bunk.. the kids are using the back of the seat which is already starting to get loose. We are wondering if anyone had any suggestions on what they did? we have the cut out in the middle

Hi and Welcome! The commercial ladders use rungs that are really hard on adult feet. Might be OK for kids. We carried an aluminum step ladder and leaned it unopened against the bunk. Floor was carpeted and it didn't slip. For a nice custom ladder good for adult (and senior adult) use, get a wooden stepladder, do away with the back legs, customize the length and carpet the rungs. Make up some brackets to keep it in place.
  • Get a ladder to keep them off of the seat back, Amazon has a lot of ladders, just measure the area that you need to cover from the floor to the bunk and order what you need.

That would be my suggestion.Keeps my grandkids off the seat backs. But it is more fun for them to just clamber up any way they can....:B
  • By "seat", do you mean the dinette seat? Do you have a couch opposite? I think usually the intent is to clamber up from the arm of the couch with that layout, which is rather sturdier than the dinette back often.

I just jump up from the floor myself. Depending on the ages and stature of your kids, I may be a good bit taller than them, which obviously helps with this—but for someone reasonably spry and not too short, it's more a challenge of nerves than of athleticism. I do also have a light little wooden ladder that can be leaned up and climbed, and can get tossed in the cabover when traveling, as supplied by the previous owner (who I think cut down a ladder from a household bunk bed or something similar to make it).

Ikea has a couple of decent looking little stepladder/step stool units that may fit the bill as well. Lots of options, as BB_TX astutely observes.
