Leak under shower

Hey everyone

Recent bought a 1977 dodge sportsman that I’ve been working on updating. Going through all the appliances I’ve discovered a leak under the shower. When I have the water running to the shower, it leaks out underneath by the grey water tank. Just wondering if others have experienced this, and if it’s more likely the seal around the toilet or perhaps the downspout from the shower to the tank cane disconnected?

Thank you!

It definitely looks like it’s just that hole around the water pipe that runs to the toilet! It comes through the floor with at least 1/4” around in wide open for water to flow through. There has to have been a gasket at some time. With a access door from outside and a removable panel inside, I can see pretty clear under the shower and it’s not leaking around there. It leaks along a seem after it passes through the hole above, and out of the trailer. I’ll have to figure out a way to seal is up, or just don’t use the shower. So far no problems with the toilet, and the shower runs off the sink connection and doesn’t have any separate plumbing. Fortunately I can see all the plumbing for the sink and it looks good. Still need to fill the propane and check all those connections, but so far so good!

Exactly my thought. He needs to find out if the leak is pan, drain or water pipe related.

What I have also learned is when you find the leak that might not be the only leak. Like when the tire shop plugs a tire and doesn't look for any other nails in that tire. :S

Please give me enough troubles, uncertainty, problems, obstacles and STRESS so that I do not become arrogant, proud, and smug in my own abilities, and enough blessings and good times that I realize that someone else is in charge of my life.

Good luck with your project. I am guessing this is the tip of the iceberg given your rig is 43 years old. You will need to be an expert handyman! If you are it should be fun, if not, not so much.

If you fill a bucket from a garden hose then pour it into the shower, does it leak ?

or, is it leaking when you run the shower ? If its the shower, then isolate it by pumping shower water into the bucket, see if it leaks.
or, when you fill the toilet bowl ? without flushing it. That way you would know if its the toilet valve.

Does the bathroom have a wet bath where the toilet gets soaked during a shower? If so then yes i would look at the fresh water hose coming in through the floor. you could try pouring some water around the hose and see if it leaks underneath the motorhome.

Ok another update. I don’t think it’s either. I think it’s just leaking out where the water house connects to the toilet. Shouldn’t there be a gromet or something in the floor? It’s just a hole haha, water can freely escape down.

Update: I have pretty easy access to the downspout and does not appear to be the problem. The seal around the toilet seems to be a culprit! How easy is it to replace?
