Light Bulb Dilema

The bulb(s) are out on the rear-ender brake light on 99 G. B. I can get the assembly out but I can't open it to get at the bulb. Any suggestions?
  • I recently had the bulb go out on my utility trailer. I couldn't pop the lense off, so I removed the entire assembly. I took to an automotive parts shop and they guy said they don't come apart. I had to buy the entire assembly.... ugg! He said I could break it and try to glue it back, but it probably would not last.

I bought the new assembly, something like $10.00. Popped it back in and working fine ever since.

THe Tail/stop/turn lights on my Rig are about 4" (I'm not measuring) round plastic shells. There is a 3 pin plug that plugs into the back of 'em (Only 2 on the back up light) they are seated in a rubber ring.

If yours are like this. they are a sealed unit. You can get LED replacements at most any decent truck stop. I did

    Just wondering,
What in the world is a "Rear-ender" brake light? Are you speaking of the "third" brake light. On many chassis builders, or, manufacturers, the "third" brake light is called the CHMSL. Or, Chassis High Mount Stop Light. And, that light is controlled entirely separate of the standard brake lights. That means it has a totally separate fuse too. So, to begin with, I'd check for that "CHMSL" fuse on your 12v fuse panel for chassis ops.
