Lost air in the rear airbags of 2000 spartan chassie

I was driving home from the race track with my car trailer in my 2000 Rexhall Airbus diesel pusher when the coach started vibrating like I blew a tire. Lucky I was only about a mile from my house. I pulled over checked all the tires and found that the back of the coach was sitting all the way down. I was able to drive it home going slow. Got to the house unhocked the trailer got it into the yard with my truck. Then the fun part my driveway is a bit of a hill so trying to back in the hitch was hitting the driveway ended up putting some wood plakes under the tires and finely got it into the yard. The next day I got under the coach and found that the arm that connects from the bottom mount of the right rear air bag to the ride height adjuster had been knocked off and dump the air. It ended up being an easy fix. I spent a bunch of time researching this on the web before I stared working on it but never found anything. So I figured I would post this story Incase this should ever happen to some one else. Not sure what knocked it off there must have been some thing in the road.
  • We have been thru this too,
We replaced the control rod with new ends from Spartan.
    seems to have fixed it.
  • It is a good idea to carry a spare ride height control rod with you if you have a Spartan chassis. Or you can make one yourself if you are handy. Stainless all-thread rod and two pivot ends. They are known to break.
  • Same thing happened to me right after I had gone through a rough section of hiway that was under construction. The road service that delivered and put on the rod on the height adjuster said this is not uncommon when in a rough section like the conustruction I had gone through.
