Love my Damon Astoria!!!!

Just spent 5 days in Keswick, VA where it got to ~23-24 each night & bus did out standing with staying warm. Wife complained it was to warm at night and kept heater set at 64 last two nights. Storage bay with water & holding tanks did great with no freezing. Love that bay is warmed by furnace. Also only used about half our propane with plenty to spare to start the trip home. We've owned this RV almost 5 years now & absolutely love it!!!! I've thought about getting a larger one with more power & pulling power but this dude pulls my 7K lb trailer great with ~9.5 mpg. Once I past 25k miles the mpg just jumped from 7.5 to 9.5. It was like the engine just relaxed and said "ok, I'm good to go". It has been awesome. Almost 28k miles now and I consistently get 9 mpg or better. That is with me doing the math each time I top it off!!!!
  • I hear ya. I've only had one real problem & it was only the front passenger hub starting leaking in the drive. Took her to FRieghtliner & they fixed me right up at a pretty low cost. I own a tire/oil shop with a friend and do all the maintenance there. Of course there are the minor things that have to be taken care of, but it's been all good. We've put over 21k miles on her in the 5 years which is not bad for not being retired. :-).
We want to do a few upgrades to the inside & the outside just needs a good wash & maybe the Zep or Max seal ( whatever that is to make her shine again).
Anyway, just thought I through this out there. Don't see many of these models on the road or even hear/read about them.
Happy RV'ing & travels to you!!!
  • I feel the same about my Excursion. The chassis has been bullet proof. I'll keep her and update with FB paint and interior upgrade before I buy a new one. I know for sure how well it's been maintained. 62,000 and never been down. Happy Camping.
