Maiden Voyage

Took our new 2115 Hurricane 27K on a 6 day maiden voyage. We went to KQ Campground in Julian, CA. Weather was good and the food was great. Their Thanksgiving Dinner, they served, had all the trimmings.

The with the 362 HP V10 pulled the hills with ease. It handeld like a sportscar compared to the Class C 305 HP V10 we had. On the freeway at 70 mph, it felt like we were just coasting along. Common sense took over and I slowed down to 65 mph.

The coach does have a few minor problems.
1: The awning rolls out and doesn't stop. And sometimes I have to roll it in with the out switch, to keep it from rolling the white bottom on the outside.
2. The screen door is about a 1/2 inche short in width, it won't lock.
3. Windshield has a loud whistle of air on the top left side.
4. We have a hole in a pantry door. Door is on order.
5. Kitchen window has a air gap. It doesn't seal.
6. Awning LED lights not working.
7. Outside rear latter has 2 bottom braces cracked.

Talk about a wet blanket post. Because no other brands ever experience a punch out list or problems, right?

  • Don, not a bad first time fix list. Probably be one more fix list and you will have all the bugs out. Have fun in your new coach.
  • Back to dealer with a list. Not telling you how to live your life but my response to the dealer would be "here's the list..fix it! Have some patenice but not much. You can also check and remind the dealer of lemon laws for your state. If they get pissy you can remind them of the power of social meadia to burn their butt cheeks. The more we post and disscuss the dealer problems, the faster the sleazos will be gone.
    Just say in
  • Thanks for the your reply. My other RV's had an awning automatic stop. The screen door hinges looked ok, will check again. I will check the weep holes on the drivers side, hope that is the problem. Its will be raining today and tomorrow, this should be a good test for any leaks.

The awning does not have an auto stop when it's deployed so that's not broken. It will stop however when rolled back in. The whistle could be your weep holes. If it's not leaking then I would suggest getting weep hole covers. This is a common noise. Screen door is short? That could be a bent hinge on the door itself, replace to fix. hopefully it's not an indication of a bigger problem where the hole for the door is cut too big, although I imagine you'd have problems with the main door if that were the case. The air gap in the kitchen window could or has caused a leak. make sure you check walls and cabinets below this to ensure there is no water damage. Hopefully replacing the window will fix it.
  • The whistle in the windshield and the air gap in the kitchen window could be major problems. Make sure those get fixed correctly and not just filled with calking. Where air can get it water can get in and water messes stuff up.
  • So you're driving an RV 100 years before it's due to be built. (2115 ?) No wonder it drives like a dream. Glad you had a good time and hope the dealer can fix the deficiencies.
