I note the route you recommend uses Route 15 (Merritt Parkway) through CT. When I was researching routes south I found that some sections of 15 are closed to oversized vehicles and have an 8 foot height restriction due to low overpasses.
Here's what I found:
"Vehicles over 2.5 meters (eight feet) in height, weighing more than 3,650 kilograms (four tons), towing a trailer, or containing more than four wheels are not allowed on the Merritt parkway."
I am planning a trip from my home, just north of Maine to Florida and google maps always puts me on Route 15 in CT.
My rig is about the same size as yours. I always trust first hand experience over internet info, so my question is??
Is Route 15 (Merritt Parkway) through CT ok for a 12 foot high rig? Have you travelled it without mishap or trouble from law enforcement?
Thanks
If I gave a route recommendation that included CT15, the Merritt Parkway, it was in error, as I made that mistake not long ago and should have checked it out prior.
No wonder people were blowing horns and waving at me and a good thing I got off when I did with a 10ft bridge coming up after the exit. Thought I'd never find I95 again with trying to worm my way through some small town. Never so happy to then again turn off towards White Plains NY for going around NY city and then west to WV and beyond. Not that our coach likes Appalachia all that much either and find it worse than the Rockies in many cases.
