We put a memory foam topper on ours. The mattress sits on the platform so feels fairly firm unless you get a thick memory foam top. So, we just purchased a topper and it's very comfortable. You can make it as soft as you wish depending on the topper's thickness.

I'd purchase a bunch of "My Pillows" and sleep on them. If you have never heard of them just turn your tv on.
