Melted front ABS Sensors

Got an ABS light on my 2010 Newmar Canyon Star on a Ford F53 chassis. Ford dealer says the front ABS sensors are melted but they haven't found anything wrong with the brakes. Anyone ever experience this?

I cooked my ABS sensors and the culprit was calipers sticking. I had all new brakes put on while at a CG in Sevierville. Returned home and the recall notice was in my mailbox.

Three weeks at the Ford dealer. Got new front rotors, brake calipers, pads, and sensors. Result $2400 poorer, but back up and running.

ABS light on in 1997 Winnebago Brave. The left front brake pad and caliper were melted as was ABS sensor. The mechanic said a defective brake pad was installed. Took 2 days and 1700 to repair. I have all the parts and will return to first mechanic in Seattle. Does anyone know of a recall for this. The Brave has Chevy 454 engine.
Winnebago had a big brake recall due to faulty Bosch Calipers it was in the 2000 to 2010 decade, you can look it up on the net. On my coach brake pads, ABS Sensor, and new calipers were installed and paid for by Winnebago/Bosch! Hope this helps you!

x2 on riding brakes from previous owner. The brakes on your model year are a great system, unlike the older F-53 (97ish). Get new pads. When you remove the pads check all the rubber boots that cover the guide bolts, they may have melted too.

Guess I should have specified that I took the MH in for the ABS Light and had the complete service at the same time.

Did you look at the paperwork? My neighbor got his brake fluid changed, according to the shop. He showed me the service ticket/invoice. The problem was that the shop ONLY charged him for ONE quart of fluid. Most Class A's take at least 3 quarts of fluid to do a complete flush of all old brake fluid. One quart is fine for bleeding the brakes and maybe getting some fluid out of the calipers, but to do a complete brake flush, a minimum of three quarts is necessary.

Since you wrote sensors, as in both, suspect the prior owner may have used the brakes a bit hard on a long down hill drive. It can happen and will usually graze the pads and possibly warp the disks. A full service was a good call. For your chassis model year I haven't read of other posting problems considering my coach is also built on a F53 so I watch for potential issues. Suspect this was owner/driver induced.

Happened to me one time caliper problem and it was fixed for me free from Winnebago.

I think I would buy an IR gun and shoot the brakes every time I stopped if I were you. Something funny going on there.

I shoot my tires on every stop looking for problems like yours.

Have you flushed your brake fluid? This was the big part of the Workhorse brake recall and it isn't just a WH problem. Moisture is drawn to brake fluid and as the moisture builds in the system it will cause corrosion on interior brake parts. Water in the brake fluid will also boil when it gets hot and become a vapor. You will then have the pedal go to the floor and not stop the coach. You can compress a vapor but not a fluid. My first experience with that was on my '89 E350 when it got to 2 years old. I came down a hill and went through a red light. No problem then. I pulled into a Church yard while the brakes cooled off and I changed my underwear. I flush brake fluid every 2 years now.

sounds like the caliper stuck things get cherry red when that happpens. I though I read aways back about a recall on ford calipers sticking ,been a while. just by looking at them you can tell there burnt. the dealer should be able to look this up. or go to google type in ford brake recall.
