- Roger_in_VERMONExplorerWell funny you should ask. We own a 2001 Holiday Rambler Imperial with a RR8R chassis. I thought the cracked weld on our rear axle mount was specific to our rig only. The crack was found by the mechanic during our annual inspection. He said the rear end was about to fall off. WOW were we lucky he found that. He would not attempt a fix because of the liability. I had a friend who has been a welder for 30 plus years look at it. He said it was a very poor welding job. After grinding out and cleaning up the old welds he had no problem fixing it. We consider ourselves very fortunate we could have been heading down the highway.
