motor on hwh leveling system

anyone change a motor on a hwh 310 series level system
both slides and jacks quit working intermitant.
I checked grounds . and relays for power. and battery voltage.
I dicoverd by tapping motor it will work. slides and jacks.
i guess there is bad spot on motor. haven't got much help from hwh.
im not a dealer.i don't want to go to camping world.for service. if I can change it myself. or has anyone had similar problem.
  • coyote, i have not seen a hwh motor for 600 dollars.
    what part number was that?
was it an obsolete motor, and they wanted to sell you a basic pump assembly?
    just curious
  • I have a kwikee system on my unit that I bought about 3 months ago, I thought my motor was open, but it turned out after removing the motor that motor was not getting a ground. On mine the ground wire was connected to the aluminum base plate, and the motor got its ground from this base plate. After removing the motor I found exteme corrosion between this aluminum base plate and the steel motor housing. I cleaned up the motor and the plate, and also drilled and tapped a 1/4" hole in the motor itself, and run a new ground wire straight to the battery. Problem solved. My question would be when you push the up or down controls does the relays, or solenoid valves click, if they don't, check your ground wire on this unit. Being you can tap on this unit I think I would be looking for dirty or loose wires or grounds. Good luck heres hoping its something as simple as my problem. Mine I consider a engineering desigh flaw, it the fact that Steel and Aluminum will corrode over time, the resistance on mine was absolute inf. Good luck, heres hoping its a simple fix. If you need more details, feel free to email. Geo
  • I have one. Mine did the same thing then quit in Whitehorse YT and they replaced almost the entire unit including the reservoir. Had the motor "repaired" in Mexico. It's sitting in my driveway ready for anyone who wants to take it away. You're probably too far away.
  • I had My Pump Motor repaired! It cost less than $100 Cad! I removed it ...2 Long Bolts and One Wire! The Repair place does them all the time, as the same motor has multi uses!
  • Pump uses essentially a vintage starter motor, they can be freshened up, probably needs new brush's and the armature cleaned up. Be careful under there.
  • thanks. I will call stuarts. maybe they will give some tips on changing it or ill send it out for repair
  • Look on ebay for the rebuilt pump motor, HWH wants 600.00 for a new motor. my friend just did his on a Itasca 2000, freightliner chassis said it was just a couple of bolts and 1 wire to motor to be removed. he"s happy with the motor he paid 69.00 plus shipping I think.
  • I haven't had to change motor, but lines and repaired jacks. It is just a messy job.
Locate your model of the motor pump assembly and order one. I normally go straight to HWH. Should have tag on the assembly.
You could try a local starter shop that maybe able to rebuild the motor. It could be bad bearings/bushings. It could be cheaper then HWH.
