Nada pricing and offers on a used coach??

any offer to the dealer will just be reported to the owner and he can take it or leave it. when I had a motorhome on consignment the purchaser offered less than I was asking and I gave the dealer the lowest amount I would take and he lowered his commission to make the deal. I wouldn't be embarrassed to make a low offer, but not a stupid one.

Why would you worry about offending the dealer or owner of the coach? Are you related to them? The dealer may be a nice guy, but he is trying to extract as much money as possible from your wallet. Offer NADA Wholesale (10% below low retail) and be prepared to walk. I hope you won't be upset when your new best friend gets offended at your low price offer!

Thanks everyone. The coach seems pretty well priced but just above what we were hoping to spend. It is one of the more basic models (no extra bells or whistles) but super clean and only 8000 miles so we are contemplating whether to make an offer now or wait and see if anything else pops up. I don't know how long it's been on the lot but it's a consignment and it's dropped price twice now already. We could bring in a low NADA value and hope we don't offend him. We loved the dealer.. can't say we've ever had a pleasant experience with a dealer before like this guy. And price does seem pretty reasonable in comparison to other units we've found online. Oh decisions!

remember start lower the you think, you can always go up, but coming down is almost never done.

There is the NADA price online which as you say shows low and average retail. The dealers use NADA Wholesale pricing for trade-ins and it is about 10% below low retail. A good library reference section should have the current NADA Wholesale book. I would start negotiations at the NADA wholesale price. You should also search RV Trader and RV USA to find current sale prices of similar models. Good luck. Is it a dealer or private that has the rv you are looking at?

Used prices are very difficult to pin down. There's variances from region to region, coach condition, how the coach came to be on sale, water leaks, wear, builder no long in business,,,. NADA and other such pricing services can be used as a very general guide and your DMV will use it as a guide to setting tax or other such rates regardless of the super deal you negotiated.

When you go and look take a lot of pictures, post a link here and ask for opinions along with as much data about the coach you can get out of the seller. Find the date codes on all the tires and if the coach has maintenance records. RV's aren't a high volume sales item so you have time to formulate a price.

The number one item to consider. If you can get the price you want or something just doesn't feel right, walk away. You can love a coach but it won't love you back.
