Need help to solve mystery

Hello,
I'm new to this site, am in Northern California, and hope to solve a mystery.
A claas B is advertised just far enough away that I can't go to see it just yet. In the meantime the seller has provided some information, but not the manufacturer. He describes it as a 1987 Ford Econoline Campwagon, 5.0 with overdrive transmission.
He thinks the unit was built in Canada because "it has Canadian markings on it". This tells me nothing; he may only be talking about decals collected on a trip to Csnada.
I have an old Kelley Blue Book listing all RV manufacturers in the US and Canada from 1977 to 1995, and cannot find Campwagon, so I think he's just using a generic term.
Any ideas?
Thank you,
36rascal.
  • Tes, drsolo and dan-nickle, that's the one!
And djgarcia, you are absolutely right. especially since it has nearly 200,000 miles on it, according to the seller...I don't know what I was thinking, was unduly swayed by my good experience with Ford products , I guess.
Thanks to you all for the heads-up.

This sounds like a black hole that will only get deeper and darker. Issues I would be concerned about:
    1. repairing and replacement parts availability. Repairing mechanical problems with limited info about the rig, engine, tranny.
    2. Age of van, 26 yrs. old is no young chicken:) Unless you plan to use this RV just around town and not do any long distance travel, you will want to make sure all mechanical parts/system are in good shape. All the RV systems need to be in excellent operating condition or you will have to start dumping money into the RV. Do you have maintenance records for the vehicle or are you just going to have to "trust" the sellers word?
    3. Why isn't the vehicle currently registered? If it is out of registration, was there a non-operative form filled out with DMV? What is the penality cost to bring the registration up to date?
  • Is this it?
And he wo'nt give out his phone number? Just yahoo email?

    Craigslist Ad

If so, it's posted all over the internet price ranngin from $2250 to $5555.

"Hello I own a 1987 Class B Ford Econoline Campwagon that I would like to Sell or Trade ASAP. I am asking 3,250 but all reasonable offers will be accepted! I would like to make a sale or trade ASAP because I have been trying to move to Arcata since May, 4th to accept work as a Camp Host. I cannot leave until I make the sell

Here's the info on the Van:
The Engine is a 5.0 but I am not sure on actual size, a four-speed automatic transmission with overdrive. 190k original miles, treated with care, runs excellent and strong! The high mileage is not due to constant driving but occasional long trips and then parking it for long periods of times. I am the first owner of 3 that has lived in the Van and I hardly drive it.

The interior is very spacious with a Propane Fridge, Two Burner Propane Stove, Stainless Steel Sink (with electric and hand pump) and plenty of cabinet space. The Microwave in pictures was removed. There is a large Bed in rear with storage underneath.
There is a spare battery for the interior along with a 800 Watt Power Inverter and a Battery Charger already wired to Van! Also includes the option to plug into an outside power outlet allowing access to many wall sockets inside.

The Registration needs to be renewed as of April of 2013 but is not currently in my name. I own the Pink and it has been signed over to me so all will be settled before final sale and wont be a problem! Im not trying to rip anybody off

I received this Van in a trade in November and I love the Van life. I would like to expand my horizons North so I will be moving for more opportunities to pursue my dreams. Selling this Van would be a good first start in a new city. I would like to get around $3,250 but do not let this stop you in sending me any offer you may have!
I would much rather trade for a Class C RV because I would be using the cash sold to purchase one anyway.

I have a cell phone but would much prefer to handle things through my email, where I can be reached anytime. I am willing to meet up and will try to answer all questions to the best of my knowledge. I can send more pictures if requested as well

Thank you for your time! Im excited to hear from you soon! :)

  • And it may be that the information on who produced it and where has been lost. When I got my conversion van in 2011 there wasnt so much as a manual for it. I still dont know what some buttons and switches are for.
