Need some guidance on fuel tanks - 85 Eldorado President

I would follow the fuel lines. You may find that there is a manual valve to change from one tank to the other.
Could be the switch only changes the fuel level indication from one tank to the other.(only need one gauge that way)

I had a truck (About that age) with dual tanks and the manual valve was under the seat.
