New dash in my 1987 Gulfstream

I got tired of looking at a cracked dash in my Gulfstream, so I removed it and made a custom replacement to my liking.
The HVAC controls were all converted to rocker switches, and I replaced the ugly shifter with a bushbutton version. I also centered the cluster, and added phone chargers and a microphone for hands-free phone use.
The ABS plastic is available online in many variations and thicknesses. Cutting and drilling isn't easy, you just have to be patient. I also added steel reinforcement which helped out a lot.

  • Thank you. I had never done a dash before, this is how I learned. I'm a car guy, I like to wrench and do electrical. Only 3 screws actually held the dash in place, removing all of the components was the real challenge, but not too bad.
  • Beautiful job, I admire your fortitude. For some who don't want to do it themselves there is Justdashes.com Dashes is all they do. Used to be located in Los Angeles, maybe still is.
  • I helped a friend redo his and we used corian countertops. It also comes in many thickness and we had all the tools to work with it. Just regular countertops material can be use and glue to plywood and also works great.
