The situation with diverting attention to radio and particularily GPS and phone could be easily address with heads up winds shield display.
It is now somewhat common, BMW has and some models of Mercedes. I'm sure there are others. The bit of technology is just a holographic projector.
Unless the Patent Holders have a very high price, it should not cost that much to produce, and could even be retrofitted to our older units, if they design a module.Wiring for inexperienced would take a bit of work just like installing a new radio with more outputs.
See your selected info on the windshield right in front of you but incorporate button controls not the maze like method of a touch screen, with multiple layers and tracks to controls and info.
