new tire selection

replacing all 6 Michelin 235/80/R22.5 XRV tires on my rig. Blew one out last night.Tires are 10 yrs old. Thinking of going with the Sumitomo brand Rv tires. I can get them with shipping,mounting and balancing included for $2498.00. The Michelins will cost me $3900.00. I only had 33,200 miles on the Michelins. Has anyone used the Sumitomo brand ? the reviews are good on them. hate to spend 4 grand just for them to die of old age. We go on one big trip a year and 3-4 small runs a year. ope to hear some feedback either way. Thanks.

    buy the Sumitomo tires;; Michelin tires suck there extremely over priced :: I bought 295 continentals for $560 Michelin were $800 for the front and then I went Korean on the rear at 392 each seriously you have to be made of money if one buys Michelin when there so many as good tires out there for 1/2 of what Michelin commands
    toyo;; is a great tire more than some but a hell of lot cheaper than over priced Michelins

    definetly not made of money by any means..lol... I think the Sumitomo is the better fit for me, but just wanted to get some RV owners opinons. Thx for your reply.

    I wouldn't be afraid of them.

    Personally we replaced our Michelins with Bridgestones this time around.

    As has been discussed time and again, there are a lot of good, lower cost options over Michelin.

    Funny thing is, I work in a Bridgestone plant where we make these tires. they are well made tires but they are just as high as the Michelins. I wanted to buy some thru my employee discount but they will not include this type of tire.

    I put sumitomo on the rear of our monaco in 2011. Have never even had to put air in them. Great tires.

    Put Michelin's on the front 2 years ago, best smoothest tires I've ever had.

    I have Sumitomos on the back 245/75/22.5 and Toyo 9R on the front. Fronts are 2009 and rears are 2010. Definitely time for replacement. That being said, I will go back on with whichever one I can get the best price for 6. Right now the Sumitomos are about $367 each out the door on the coach. I think can get the Toyos a little bit cheaper. Was at the tire place today and talked to an RVer who just put 6 Toyos on his coach and he was very pleased with them.

    Either tire has given me great service. Happy travels. Arnold
