new tires for toad

Going to need new tires for toad soon jeep liberty. As we all know products in different parts of the country or large city prices are different. We all travel a lot so was wondering where in the USA would be the best market for new tires?
  • Everybody has been so helpful, but still wondering if anybody knows of what part of the country tires would be the cheapest or what city?

Here's a State Sales Tax Chart and NM is the lowest of the states you asked about. Trick to the states is so many jurisdictions have "local options" that could tweak them up 1-2%.
2% on $1000 isn't but $20. To me, with Sam's Club, the bigger issue is tapping into one of the instant rebates they seem to have several times a year. Those promotions can be $50 or more.
Our daughter needed two sets of tires in CA last month. We got the BFG's for one vehicle (Ford Explorer) but the Subaru Forester ended up with Pirelli. I believe there were promotions on both.
Wal-Mart of course has tires in their Tire/Lube stores (and even some Super WMs don't have that dept) but the brands are different. I didn't think the choices and prices were as good. Too bad because there are more WM's than Sam's stores. But I ended up with WM for batteries. Between us, we've bought four in the last few months.
  • What about wall marts. They have most all the name brands and are everwhere?
  • j-d I totally for got about Sam's. I have bought from Discount tire in the past (no problems)but the nearest one is 70 miles away. I will price Sam's. But should I by in fl or tx or nm.What about a state with no sails tax?
  • I've been using CostCo because they're easy to find when traveling. When I first went with CostCo, prices were competitive with Discount Tire but included tire rotation for the life of the tire.

We've had good luck with the BFG T/A series from Sam's Club. I don't know if offerings and prices vary by locality. We've bought them in AK, CA, and FL.
  • I am a fan of America's Tire Co., but they also sell as Discount Tire Co. They are National and have always treated me well.

Beware as there are knockoff artists out there. We went to a "Discount Tire" with a REALLY similar company logo and their prices/service were a ripoff.

Look on the web site www.americastire.com to see if you have a local franchise.
