No water pump pressure?

Hi all--just de-winterized the Roadtrek and although the pump pumps water to all the outlets, it won't build pressure and shut off. Sounds like there is air in the lines, and I have let it run and turned off the pump till the water stops running, then turned the pump on again, but still no built up pressure and no shut off. What to do?
  • Sounds like it is 'sucking' air .....suction side of pump.
Either from cracked strainer, cracked fitting, still open winterizing valve, loose hose clamp etc.
  • mine did this cracked strainer bowl.its sucking air some where .from the pump back to the fresh water tank.
  • Make sure the valve right after the city fill is closed all the way. I had this happen one time, when i first dewinterized. Makes you stand back and scratch your head for sure! Let us know when you resolve it.
  • I agree with GaryKH. It is easy enough to just bump the valve and cause it to suck air.

  • I just had this happen this evening. The first post I read when I come in is this! Go figure...

I'm going to check all my valves. I thought I got them right, but may not have. After all, I was bent in half and hanging upside down through a hole in the rear bunk.
  • Sometimes you can "cheat" - use city water fill to run water thru all lines to get all the air out. Then d/c city water, turn pump back on - often problem solved. ST
  • Just went thru this myself. You probably drained the hot water heater to winterize. Hook up to your garden hose and run water like loggenrock says.
