Onan 4000w generator

My Onan GenSet operator's manual talks about clearing out the muffler of soot, Etc. I removed the 2 bolts in the bottom of the muffler as described and then started the generator. I was not able to get the generator to start the AC (1500 watts or there-a-bouts) in order to put a load on the generator, also as described. The AC works when outside 110-120 power is hooked up. What am I doing wrong?

That must be it. When I unplugged the external power, I didn't reconnect it in the box. I haven't tried it yet. Thanks from a newby to RVs.

Did you plug the Elec Cord back into the receptacle in the Electric bay? That is how the Generator puts 120 volt back into the RV to run the A/C
