Onan 5000 gas generator-third time not a charm

I have a 2007 Safari Simba with a 5000 Onan generator. Back a few months ago while using, the generator stopped running giving a code 36, which says it is out of gas. I replaced fuel filter. Ran fine for about 10 hours and then died, giving the same 36 code. Took to mechanic. He removed filter which was plugged and then removed all fuel line. When he blew compressed air through lines, little pieces of rubber flew out. Bottom line replaced filter and all fuel line. Ran for another 10 hours or so and just did the same thing again. Generator died giving the same 36 code. Any ideas. And yes the tank is full.
  • These are just some ideas that I have encountered over my life with vehicles. I know that gas will eat at the rubber hose in cars, I had one that ate off at a 1/4 tank leaving me out of gas with a 1/4 tank left.

The new ethanol gas will eat gas lines I'm told. Was warned not to use it in my boat engine. JMT
  • My 36 code was a fuel pump. Apparently heat destroys them. If I have the problem again I am going to move the fuel pump. Maybe to the chassis where it will stay cool.
  • Sounds like the fuel pickup in the tank is picking up crud out of the tank. The pickup line might need a new sock on the end of it in the fuel tank.
