onan gen set

hello all, been gone off this site for a few years and of course had to re-register.

do we have any onan experts on here? went out to exercise my 4000 emerald gen set and it did not start, checked for spark and had none. bought a new coil (bad idea) still no spark, and no start. getting 12 volt to coil but nada coming out.
anyone have experience with this?? sure would like to have it running again. any and all help is appreciated.
