Onan Generator 6000

My Onan generator keeps stopping after 15-20 minutes. I burned out my starter after refiring so many times. I have checked the plugs, air filter and connections ( that i can see) I cleaned out a mouse nest and it still keeps stopping. Any ideas on what else could be wrong? Once i get it started it runs smooth.......for 15-20 min???

  • Mine is doing the same thing and my guess is the fuel pump. Do a search and you'll find lots of info and how to's and pics if you're a DIY person. Mine goes in the shop next Tuesday :)
  • fuel filter? I would sure check the fuel filter before I messed with the fuel pump. I didn't see you mention whether you checked it or not. The majority of the problems like yours that I have seen on these forums turns out to be the filter. Good luck.
  • Fuel Pump Possibly . . . Common Problem . . . This has been discussed over and over and over
  • Temp sensor could indicate overheating.....what is the code you get on the switch when it stops...if it indicates overheat code (measure the flashes) and either check that or make sure it is getting enough ventilation.
