Onan quiet 10,000 generator

Anyone know what a ballpark cost is for a 1,000 hr service on this generator at a typical RV dealership? This would include replacing the hoses and belts in addition to oil, refrigerant and filters.
  • At 1,000 hours, you may not need to replace all the rubber (belts & hoses), unless they are over 6-7 years old.
Most of these dealerships seem to charge a bit over $100 an hour for service, so I'd guess that it would be $250 plus parts. It will really depend on the Service Techs, as well as what really needs to be done. Accessibility will also be a factor....as to how easy it is for them to work on your particular genset.

Call the local dealership you would bring it to...they can probably give you a pretty fair estimate.
  • Topic poster says - The manual suggests replacing all these items, but I think the hoses can wait. I have a front pull-out rail-mounted unit which is difficult to work on in place if you have to pull off the front or rear panel. The belt is the hardest item to get to for replacement.
  • What year is the Onan Quiet Diesel? You may have one belt or two and if you have two, you will probably need to get the new fan kit that allows you to go to one serpentine belt. I had my belt changed at 2500 hrs and it looked new. Also had my brushes replaced and they were over 50% left. Hoses were also good and mine was a 2005 model year. It's your call but be prepared for all to be good. Changing the oil, fuel filter and air filter takes less than an hour. Look at 4+ hours to do the belt(s), hoses, brushes. Also, where did the "refrigerant" come into play as there is none that I know of in a generator?
  • poster says - the onan is a 2009 and it has one belt. The refrigerant was a misnomer - should have said coolant.
