We had an Aliner and loved it while it fit our family and camping style. Indeed a very clever design, with longevity for sure. Not much design change since the 60's.

Cool looking, but all I can think of is how hot it would be in that terrarium, er, I mean the clear plastic bubble.

It did remind me of a hybrid we looked at a few years ago when shopping for our TT. It went further down than a typical hybrid tented bunk and then allowed for a full height inflatable bed that you could walk around.

You never see tented pop-outs on driveables, at least not in this country. It would be interesting...but I know hybrids tend to have the reputation of leaking...then again, class C cabovers have that reputation too 😉

Before there where slide outs, there where tip outs. They would tip in for travel, and the hole in the side of the RV was covered with a large piece of canvas. Hopefully it was not raining while driving, they where 'sort of' water tight.

As for me, this 'new' design has way to much window, and to little privacy. Not enough headroom either.

RIVA has standards, and 400 square feet is the 'limit' for a "Recreational vehicle" - more than 400 square feet, it is no longer a RV, but classified as a mobile home.

I have seen mobile homes with a tip out, it was common in the 60's. The receptacles inside the tip out section are all connected to a power cord, and that plugs into a wall receptacle near the tip out to power them.

I have not seen a tip out in a new RV since 1988. They are a pain to set up.
