P30 belt?

I had a serpentine belt break with just under 9000 miles on it. I replaced all the belts back ~ 3 years ago. The belt used was a Gates Micro V K060525 which their computer lists as 'Except motorhome'. WTH?

Looking at Rockauto's site it shows the same belt also as 'Excluding motorhome'

https://www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo...sn=576&jsn=576

The Rockauto site also lists an OEM number for that belt (K060525) as you guessed it....#10085787

They also list a K060525HD (heavy duty) as 'Excluding motorhome'. WTH? It also lists the OEM part#10085787 as well. LOL!

Wouldn't a motorhome be considered 'heavy duty' LOL!
  • Have the old belt and 4 ribs remain of the total 6. One side of the belt came apart leaving the other side intact.
  • Bearings fell out of mine on a backroads highway down near Death Valley about 100 miles from no-where.
Belt broke, I ran genset with jumper to chassis bttery to get to main highway. Tried to overheat, so disconnect toad and had Boss drive toad.

I would guess that the belts on some are v-belts as shown in Gates website.
Yes, your belt could have spun when alternator failed, causing it to become brittle.

It did just as I pulled (quite literally) into my parking spot on Granville Island. As soon as the squealing started I shutdown. Turns out the rear bearings fell out allowing for the shaft to seize. Swapped out the alternator the following morning.

MHs are medium duty in the P-30 series.
Are you having issues? Make sure the belts are in the correct groove for proper alignment on pullies.

Belt was lined up properly and tension was fine. No issue/s with pulleys.

The only other thing I can think of is my alternator bearing seized about 6mos after replacing the belts. Caught it rather quick but perhaps it damaged the belt shortening it's life?

Belts were replaced in Jan 2016 and alternator in ~ July 2016. Belts had just over 81XX miles on them at the time the serpentine one broke.

Any idea why they list the belt as 'Except motorhome'?
