Patriot brake question

I have a 32 foot class C with a jeep wrangler toed. I am getting Blue ox base plate and tow bar and the blue ox patriot breaking system. While waiting for this to be installed I read on the internet to learn how to use it. The Jeep book says to put transfer case in neutral and transmission in park. No problem yet but it also says to disconnect neg side of battery. This part has me thinking will the patriot brake work due to you are suppose to plug it into a hot 12 volt source. If I disconnect the neg side of the battery how does the Patriot work????????? Why do I need to disconnect the battery??????? Anyone using this same set up please advise. Thanks in advance.

What year Wrangler? Earlier Wranglers have a steering wheel lock, which can only be unlocked by leaving the key in the ACC position which will kill the battery after several hours of towing. In this case you'll need a charge line from the MH installed as already mentioned. But be advised that for a couple years this information was not updated correctly in the Wrangler owners manual. To tell if you need to leave the key in, simply determine if yours has a steering lock. Take the key out and see if you can turn the wheels. It will be hard to do, and you'll need to turn them quite a bit to be sure there is no lock.

They sell a kit to install a separate power plug for the brake which is wired direct to the battery.

What year Jeep? A lot of them are being towed with the battery connected even though the manual advises otherwise.

I have a 2010 Jeep Wrangler, just bought it I don't think the steering locks, if not then I should be able to keep battery connected right? Will it drain battery?
