Pioneer GPS/Radio Replacement

My Pioneer AVIC d2 seems to have died. It has power but screen does not power up.

So I need to fix or replace.

Anyone sent one in for repairs ? How did it go ?

If I replace, anyone gotten a combo with a GPS/Radio/Backup camera all in 1 ?

Let me know.

In days of old when folks were bold and I was studying Electronics, PIONEER was one of the big boys.

www.crutchfield.com has about the best catalog of replacements of anyone.
  • They will charge at least $75 to tell you it doesn,t work. New ones are not that expensive.
  • 1. Have you tried hitting the reset button on the front display? That is the very small indent you use a ball point pin to push and hold for 10 seconds.
    2. Your system is 10 years old, and not worth repairing. You can get a replacement for a lot less than repair and it will have all the current modern features that are standard today. The only problem may be the flip up design. Doug

thanks for the tip on the reset, it did not power up.

I will look at getting a new GGS
  • Having had my Pioneer repaired, it is worth it. The factory repaired mine for less than $300. A comparable replacement is over $600 and will require reinstallation and wiring. Not just plugging back in.

I finally completed the solution. I purchased a Pioneer 5700 radio/cd/dvd/sat radio/with ipod connection and had it installed. It also has an input for a backup camera, which I did not need as I already have a backup camera.
I have a 9 inch tablet that I have loaded Delorme SW on and will use this for my GPS.
Cost me $550 for the work, life is good.
