Plumbing

Should the bathroom sink in a class a rv be plumbed to the grey or black tank?
  • All of my TT's and MH have had the bathroom sink, shower and kitchen sink plumbed to the Gray tank. That is what I would always prefer.
  • The majority of them go to the Gray tank. But, if you have a certain floorplan design, that makes running a sink to the gray water impossible, they will plumb to the black. There is NO code that states ONLY Black(toilet) water can go to a Black tank. Doug
  • Is it only the sink that is piped to the Black Tank? What about the shower?

Wash tank (if you have one) is the same as Gray only no kitchen sink.
If not wash tank (or if it is remote) then gray tank is next choice

Finally some Makers hook it to the black tank, That is NOT something mine did or I would recommend. but that's how some do it.

    Reasons:
In many areas WASH tank can be dumped on ground, at least when fresh (not held)

In some (Fewer) areas, so can GRAY

Black must ALWAYS go into a proper hole in the ground (Sewer system or pump out truck/wagon that goes to a hole in the ground)

NOTE: some areas require all 3 go into a proper sanitary sewer, But Well.. The farther you are from black, the more likely to be legal dumping on ground.

    Yep!
  • Our unit plumbs the bathroom sink to the black tank. I'd rather it go to the gray. If yours is similar, the shower will go to the gray along with the kitchen sink.
