Previously enjoyed 2011 Fleetwood Providence motorhome

A friend of mine has asked me to go with him to check out this Fleetwood motorhome. all i know is that the unit has 20000 miles on it is 42 feet long and the asking price is $179000 Canadian. Can some one tell me where the Providence model sits in the Fleetwood line up of models and are there any particular aspects of this unit I should be aware of. I have been told by my friend that the tires are 2008 while the unit is a 2011 does this make sense thanks

Downtheroad, pretty sure I'm the moron having said "I would not ask you to help me look at a 42' DP. This was based on it sounding like he was inspecting it and his owning a 05 gasser and the help he has asked for this past year in regards to it. The systems in a 2011 42' DP are much more complex than his MH... heck, more complex than my 2004 42'.
Now that we know he's more along for just the ride the 08 tires are a red flag... the 08 tires need replacing... 10 X $600= $6000. Also, how long did it take to build it during those down turn years plus many feel MHs were not as well built in those years... thrown together with whatever parts they had on hand... 08 tires.

Don't let a moron poster get the better of you. Your obviously a MH owner trying to help out a friend and that makes good sense to me

Since Ivylog and I are the only other responders to the original question I guess one of us is the, "moron," your are referring to.

Nice. Both of us were being completely helpful and polite. Maybe you should try being the same.

Anyway, maybe we will meet up down the road somewhere and we can sit under the awning and swap stories.

Please let me correct the misconception that I am inspecting this RV for purchase. I am just a second pair of eyes having a look over this unit. If it is decided to go further the plan is to have it inspected by a diesel mechanic followed by a thorough inspection at an rv shop. I am trying to help a friend make a decision based on as much information as possible.

I don't know if you read my post or not regarding price and tires

X2 on what downtheroad said plus looking at your previous 16 posts this year I would not ask you to help me look at a 42' DP. Way too much downside on this for you.

price sounds right its a pretty good model from I have seen.
Tires being 08 I doubt.its most likely a 2010 chassis so tires should be no older than around 2010 at 20K miles if there not weather checked or worn there just fine yet
  • With respect to you.....I'd tell my friend to hire a certified RV mechanic/inspector to go over it and submit a report to him.

Too much money to just give it a, "look see." There is so much more to consider with an older motorhome beside the tires.
It's not worth a friendship to advise someone on something this expensive.
