- PogoilExplorerWhere is this place?
- GoldencrazyExplorerAnd I don't understand people who reply to a post they don't understand or have an answer. Ft. Wilderness is the huge campground at Disney World. Many of the readers here have camped there and provide great information. I was expecting that if propane is not available I would get info on the best way to get it and from whom. In the past people have been so helpful in providing extended information from the question asked. The campground phone operators often don't have a clue. I have had numerous times that the information I get here is much more up to date than I get from the staff at a large campground. So I hope you understand why I asked here first. It just provides a bit more information. I learned for instance once that propane was not allowed in the campground but that a private vendor parked a truck for an hour on Tuesday in the front parking lot and you could bring the coach up for a fill. Not the best but better than driving 30 miles one way. So perhaps you get the picture. I didn't intend to irritate, just looking for info which is so incredibly plentiful on rv.net. I think this forum is the most valuable tool I have.
- JohnnyTExplorer IIWe spend a couple of months each year at Fort Wilderness and I do not recall seeing an propane delivery truck in the camp ground. In terms of washing, they do not permit washing any longer in the campground, but I have seen rigs being washed up in the parking lot.
JohnnyT - JamesBrExplorerI have never heard of that, they refil bottles, but if you have a bus I think you have to head off campus to get refilled. I would just make sure I was topped off before going there, but I only stay for a week or two.
- GoldencrazyExplorerThanks folks. Doing two months this year and will top off before arrival. I have also seen people washing their own rigs as I walked around.

I am not sure about Fort Wilderness but I have found that it is against fire regulations in a lot of cities. They are afraid of an accident while filling with them parked so closely. One gas company told me that they did not do campgrounds because if the furnace kicks on next door or just a pilot light next door could cause a major explosion. That is generally why they want you to pull out to refill. - Ed_CExplorerAmeriGas deleivers to Disney's comfort stations but the driver told me he couldn't deleiver to an RV unless they had an account. I tried calling them in Orlando but never got an answer. We easily last three months at the Fort as long as we strart with a full tank and use the heatpump whenever possible.
- sorenExplorerWe have spent Christmas week there for the last dozen years. I always had a trailer, so we would grab the bottles and head to Camping World in Kissimmee at 192 & N. Poinciana Blvd. Odd operation when you get there. An elderly fella runs a refill operation in the CW parking lot. I certainly can understand why anybody with a fixed tank in a Motorhome would find this to be a pretty poor choice, however. Particularly since 535 can be a long parking lot, for hours on end, at this time of year. So, can I add my question to the OP's? Is there a place to head for propane that is not in the thick of things, like north on 535?
- joe_b_Explorer IIWith removable tanks, you can or could take them to the Meadows Trading Post in the AM and pick them back up full in the late afternoon. I take my removable ones to Camping World, about a 20 minute drive from the Fort. Fixed tanks may have to be driven to some off property propane dealer, such as CW. If I go in full, it is rare for me to need a refill, as I try to run off of electric as much as possible. We did have to run the furnace some last week at the Fort on the chilly mornings, it got down to 64 degrees F one morning, LOL.
- klmExplorerDo you have the "stay a while" adaptor on your onboard fixed tank? If so, you can use a 20 lb aux external tank and just take it to get filled.
