Push button shifter conversion

I wanted to add the novelty of push-button shifting to my 1987 Gulfstream, so I bought a complete kit and got rid of the ugly cable shifter.
First I had to mount the servo unit where heat and water would not affect it, then run the cable to the selector arm on the Ford C-6. The it was just a matter if wiring in a power source and 2 relays for the reverse lights and the starter solenoid. Programming the shifter was easy, just follow the step-by-step instructions.
The unit comes with a speed signal generator which prevent engaging Park while moving, or shifting from D to R while moving. The brake pedal must be depressed to shift out of Park, just like newer cars. I like it!

    You are right, I did get the posts mixed up. As for the shifter, it works perfectly, I drove the motorhome again yesterday.
    The difficulty may be in the installation. You have to install 2 relays to take the place of the neutral safety switch in my application, plus find a power source that is constant during engine cranking. The servo is also a computer that must have constant voltage to function, since it controls the start relay. Newer RVs may be wired different, and different shifter units are available from dealers.     I think you have your posts mixed up. I'm talking about the reliability of the push button shifter conversion. Not the remote transmission cooler. :)

    That's cool. I didn't know you could buy a conversion kit.
