Putting Black Tank Chems in Grey Tank?

I'm getting a little odor from my sink drains. Will it hurt to put a little black tank chemicals down the drains into the grey tanks?
Thanks
Brian

Do you rinse dishes with food particles on them? Greasy stuff? Coffee grounds? All of this can contribute to a smelly grey tank/traps. It's best to take a used paper towel or napkin and wipe the dishes into the wastecan before washing.

also if you have a washer dryer and haven't used it in awhile, add some water to the washer and run the spin cycle.

Replace the air admittance valves - they are cheap and as others said. If they aren't working, you will smell the grey tank. There should be one under each sink.

If we are staying more than a couple of days, I always add one scoop of Happy Camper to the sink. Never had an odor problem and it helps to keep the gray tank squeaky clean.

I hadn't really thought about the traps. I'm going to remove them and clean them out. Thanks

We had a problem one time when we were camping in hot weather with grey tank odors from the kitchen area (has its own tank). I couldn't figure out where it was coming - trap was full and I even sealed the air admittance valve with a sandwhich bag and a rubber band. It still stunk so I dumped a bunch of chems down there.
Later on I think I figured out where the smell came from.
I pulled the fridge out one winter to fine-tune its install (it was along winter..) and found that the gey tank had a vent stack that came up next to the fridge and just dead ended about 6~10" below the ceiling. So if the fumes got bad enough they would just escape around the fridge.
I used a couple of fittings to extend the end of the pipe up into the roof vent for the fridge and never had the smell issue again.

Are you sure its the traps that stink, and not bad air admittance valves ??

Eliminate the cause of the smell. Don't just mask it. Use some bleach and Dawn.

. . . wont hurt the plumbing and rubber seals like more caustic stuff can.

If by "caustic stuff" you mean bleach, then don't worry -- unless you're talking about Harbor Seals or Baby Harp Seals.

Won't hurt a bit. But, the traps under your sinks and shower should prevent the odor you are reporting...

Agree, you don't need any of that stuff, that's what the traps are for...just like at home.

Use chemicals as you want......

Personally I remove 'P' traps, take them outside and scrub them clean of any gunk, reinstall and fill back up with water.....water is a vapor barrier

Then I check the Air Admittance Valve(s) under sinks. If they aren't closing properly grey tank odors can come back inside rig.
Is it time for your medication or mine?

X2 on the P-trap stopping the tank odor from coming into the room.
You might try to see if there is a buildup of crud below the sink and above the P-trap. I had that in our bathroom sink and had to bust out the plastic that kept stuff from falling into the drain so I could get a rag down there to clean the piping.

We use bleach or apple cider vinegar to clean grey tanks.
4 whopping cylinders on Toyota RV's. Talk about great getting good MPG. Also I have a very light foot on the pedal. I followed some MPG advice on Livingpress.com and I now get 22 MPG! Not bad for a home on wheels.

Bleach or soap..hot water
I never put blue stuff, in the grey tank
One of the enzyme , or other bio friendly cleaners should be ok in the grey tank
I can explain it to you.
