My 2002 ISC 350 fuel filter was so dirty I was loosing power on hills and lite never ever came on so iam thinking this was only on some models maybe?
NOTE that it was NOT his fuel filter, but his FUEL/WATER SEPARATOR that sent the signal so his unit was NOT starving for fuel so his power remained. The fuel/water separator is separate from the fuel filters on most rigs. Have you checked your fuel/water separator?
On my rig, it actually has two fuel/water separators - one in a bay just behind the rear wheel - the
Fleetguard FS1242. Note it has a clear plastic bowl on the bottom where you can easily check for water in the fuel.
On the engine is the
Fleetguard FS1022. It has a sensor in it that you hook a wire to. The sensor is a "water in fuel (WIF)" sensor, so if that was indeed what was triggering the indicator light it would say he was getting plenty of fuel, but also some unwanted water. So, the OP may not be out of the woods yet depending on whether there is still water in the tank.
