The quality is all over the place. I've got a mix of bulbs from a variety of sources, some are really good some not so good. Color temperature and lumens output information can be helpful, maybe not entirely accurate or reliable in the cheaper offerings... I purchased all of mine a few years back, so my info on brand quality is likely out of date.
I would recommend reading up on what others have purchased and buy a couple of various output values and color temperatures. If one is too bright for one place, it might be better over the stove or in the bathroom....not bright enough perhaps porch light. This of course only works if most of your fixtures use the same base.
I'd stay away from really cheap no-name offerings, I have some that emit light very unevenly.. however those might work fine in a fixture with a better light diffuser.
