Recliner stuck!!!

The recliner in my 99 Adventurer has become stuck in the reclined position. How do I fix this & where do I look for the problem? (I am not mechanically inclined.)

I've been telling that to the DW for years - Seriously - "Honey it's stuck could you get me another BEER"

I agree, but it complicates bathroom breaks.... :B
  • Turn it over and look at the mechanism. They're pretty straight forward. Pull the lever and the foot rest comes out, push it forward and it retracts.

You most likely lost the pivot bolt that allows the mechanism to move. It may simply be loose and caught in the mechanism. Reinstall the bolt and nut and you're on your way....Dennis
  • Get someone to get down and look under it. Some recliners tend to do that, there may be something hung in the mechanism, or just something in the way. Try moving the footrest sideways back and forth, while pushing down on it.
  • You may want to check with a local upholstery shop as they know those things inside and out.
