Recommended locations 3-4 hours from Seattle with kids?

Port Townsend, Point Hudson park at the marina on the north end of town. Great sites on the beach.

Better check to see if there's somewhere to stay first. Campgrounds are pretty full. We reserve months in advance. Just got back form kayaking Potholes this weekend. Saw lots of wildlife.

Here's some others:

Grayland Beach State Park. If you reserve soon enough you can get a site backed up to the dunes. Huge sites. Ones by dunes are electric/water only.

Cape Disappointment. Another great one on the beach. Some sites are so close to beach they are beginning to erode and are closed during winter as surf hits them.

Sun Lakes/Dry Falls State Park (another one on dry side of state). You can stay at the resort (private concession) or for big sites stay at the state park. Fishing and a ig lake to play in. Awesome scenery, hiking, biking, etc.

We were just at Cape Disappointment state park, very nice. Lots of ocean views, can go up and tour a light house, Fort Columbia is nearby, and there's plenty to do and see.

Wow thanks for all the great replies. In the end we decided to go with fort worden in port townsend and explore the general area between there and sequim.

If you don't mind shivering in sweatshirts, head to the coast. I love it there, but it's only warm about 3 days a year! I love to head to the east side of the state.

Ocean Shores, WA has all the touristy junk that kids like - go carts, ice cream, pizza, restaurants of all kinds, movie theater, bowling, pool hall, bumper boats, arcades, mini golf, kite flying, Audubon Society, Ocean Shores Interpretive Center, horseback riding on the beach. yadda, yadda, yadda.

For the adults: Quinault Beach Resort & Casino. The casino has a gravel RV parking area for boondocking. No services other than a trash dumpster and shuttle bus to the casino.

If you're thinking about going to a theme park in Idaho, we got the Great Wolf Lodge off of I-5 exit 88 in WA. :B

Your children will feel like they were in the movie "Honey I Shrunk The Kids" in the beautiful rain forest walking under the house plants with leaves the size of tables, and knee deep moss. The sea shores and snow capped mountains are also awesome. The tide pools on the shore are really cool to play with the marine life, star fish, crabs, and all that.

Both fun and educational. If you can't get into the primary campgrounds go for the primitive ones which I like better for the naturistic experience.

A word of caution. In the camp grounds, don't let your kids wanter off too far. They can easily get lost in the forest.....much easier than realized. You go with them and follow clues which direction is back to camp. A good compass would be a good idea if you are not used to that yourself. That way you don't have to be concerned. Set your course going in and reverse when returning. Easy!

Kids = Cd'A, Idaho and Silverwood amusement park. Unlikely you'll find campsites available at Silverwood but Farragut might. There are several CG's near Cd'A.

What is the name for the RV park just outside of Sequim? I am heading hat direction and it sounds perfect.

Great campground just outside of Sequim. Near water. Great bike path. Dungeness Spit right down the road is great for beachcombing, walks etc.
